Biography
My emphasis is on providing employment, dispute resolution, small business, and intellectual property licensing counseling to my Clients. My many years of service and a broad array of Clients and experiences have enabled the development of a rich assortment of problem solving tools enhancing my delivery of targeted, cost efficient and Client-centric solutions.
I have sat on the board of directors of a fiber optics company, have represented leading companies providing various products and services including broadband access, VOIP services, precision optical software, software licensing and sale, gaming, consulting and online services, and various other bricks and mortar garden variety products and services.
I am the former lead counsel for Source Services Corporation (a company that was acquired soon after its IPO), a company which was a leading national provider of personnel staffing services. While representing Source, I managed all employment issues and oversaw litigation across some 30 plus states. I have represented employee and employer plaintiffs and defendants, real estate buyers, sellers, and agents, licensors and licensees, parties to business contracts and both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation, arbitration, mediations, and agency hearings on a wide variety of subject areas.
I have counseled numerous start-up and emerging businesses, both low tech and hi tech and provided operational documentation (business contracts, license agreements, employment agreements, etc.) for such enterprises at various stages of their growth. I have served as a member of a three attorney panel providing continuing legal education seminars across California to other lawyers through a program entitled “Company Assets, Confidential Information and the Mobile Employee”, sponsored by Lorman Education Services, Eau Claire, WI.
Over the years I have come to understand my role as an attorney as essentially one of informed problem solving and have come to understand the value of anticipating those problems so as to avoid the considerable distractions and costs in dealing with a matured legal problem. I understand that one size does not fit all in determining the best legal strategy in any particular situation and therefore endeavor to gain a full understanding of each Client’s values, circumstances and objectives before identifying what “success” looks like to that Client.
While most of my Clients are direct referrals by lawyers or current or previous Clients, no prospective Client is refused for lack of a referral. And if for any reason I am unable to take on a case, or if following acceptance of a case, unique issues outside of my range of competence should arise, I have developed a rich network of attorneys and other service providers capable of assisting in the resolution of your legal issues. Regardless and without charge, I am always available to point you in the right direction if I am not the right person for your particular legal issue.
